Veldex, the Blessed One
Alignment: Good
Domains: Greater God, commonly associated with honor, valor, wisdom, faith and healing.
Symbol: Golden Chalice
Appearance: Like most of the gods, Veldex is not seen on the mortal plane that often, but he was very active during the fate wars. He is commonly seen as a middle-aged human wearing a full suit of golden platemail. His eyes are said to be as golden as his armor.
History: Veldex is believed by many to be the most pious and righteous of the gods. Unlike the majority of the gods, Veldex never had any desire to rule supreme. Veldex's primary focus is to always do what is right, in spite of the consequences to himself. As a result, Veldex is said to be the god who gifted mortals with souls, in order for them to be conscious of their actions. A staunch opponent of Phykrell and all that he stands for, Veldex played an instrumental role in defeating Phykrell's army in the Second War of Fate. It was Veldex who created the army of 100 knights from rams in order to defeat Phykrell and his forces in the Galen Mountains. Each knight was gifted with an amulet of protection by Veldex, and the knights who currently wear these Amulets are called the Knights of Magilone, named in honor of Veldex's champion warrior Magilone, who was slain during the battle against Phykrell.
Followers: The faithful of Veldex are as pious and righteous as the god they worship. Veldex's followers have a strong sense of right and wrong, and strive to live by a strict and honorable code of living. However, given their desire to do what is right and to engage in an ongoing battle against evil, Veldex's followers have frequently found themselves out of favor with the society in which they live and are required to worship their god in secret. Like their god, the followers of Veldex despise the Church of the Shroud and the god Phykrell. It is their greatest desire to rid the mortal world of the Church of the Shroud and to silence Phykrell's influence once and for all.
It is no surprise that the most common followers of Veldex are paladins, and that the greatest of these paladins belong to the famed Knights of Magilone. In addition to the paladins, there are also a few clerics and priests, as well as a secret society of mages called the Mages of the Dusk, who follow in the footsteps of Duskcaster, a mage educated by the Arnde and completely loyal to
Veldex.
